Back to RoHS

What type of product is affected?

The RoHS directive adopts the associated area of RAEE (Recycling of Electric and Electronic Apparatus) It applies 8 of the categories specified within the RAEE directive :
- Large electrical appliances
- Small electrical appliances
- Computer and telecommunications equipment
- Consumer equipment
- Illumination equipment (including bulbs and domestic lighting)
- Power tools and electronics
- Games and leisure time/sports equipment
- Vending machines

Legally, the RoHS directive only applies to the finished products that belong to the categories previously mentioned. It does not apply to fixed industrial tools or machinery. Similarly, it does not apply to the components or subsets, which are used to manufacture the finished product or to the repair or maintenance of existing products. However, in reality, the manufacturers of the aforementioned products will need components to be in “accordance” with.
